Profit Plan on a Page – GPS / Satnav for your business
Would you like an extra 72% of profit in your business within a couple of years?
I don’t know about you, but whenever I go on a long car journey to a destination I have never been to before, there are a few things I do.
I check the fuel level, and the tyre pressures, and I turn on my Satnav/GPS system.
And on the journey I regularly check my dashboard and my satnav for warning signs, speed restrictions, fuel levels and so on.
Just like my preparation for a long trip, the profit plan on a page does the same thing for my business, and other clients who work with me using it.
The fuel level would be the basics. Does the business have a flow of leads and new business, to keep the business growing in sales and more importantly in profitability. Where is the level now, and is there enough for the next 30 days or 90 days?
The tyre pressures’ check is a bit like making sure our business systems can be relied upon. Is our invoicing system working, or conversion system? Do we have enough team members to keep up the quality of customer service we need to? Are there sufficient resources, time, money, space, skill etc. to meet the coming demand over the next 30 or 90 days?
Then the satnav. What a lifesaver. The number of times I’ve missed a turn, or have no idea where to go, the satnav gets me on track. It redirects me if I’ve taken the wrong turn. It tells me where I am along the route, and how far it is to my destination. It also tells me how long it might take to get there. It even redirects me if I want to avoid a roadblock.
In a business, you need to know exactly the same thing. If you are off track, you need to be brought on track quickly. I remember the old days, with a map in hand, you may have to travel 20 or 30 miles before you realised you were off track. Now it could be as little as 200 yards! I know which one I prefer.
In a business, you need to know your destination, and your starting point. You need to plot the route to get to your destination. You need to know that you’re making progress, and how long it might take to achieve your goal. If you need to adjust your target up or down, this must become evident early on. And if you want to avoid roadblocks, you need to know you are coming across one, to make the necessary manoeuvres.
The sooner you know these facts, the quicker you can make decisions, and the better the quality of decisions you can make.
All of this lends itself to losing less time and money going in the wrong direction, and making more money in less time by doing the right things at the right time consistently.
I recently flew from Heathrow to LA. The plane went on autopilot soon after take-off, and was off course 95% of the time. Yet it got to the destination intended, and, with the help of the Jetstream, it got me there 20 minutes ahead of schedule.
The power of regular adjustments, and having a destination in mind. And knowledge about advantages available in the environment.
If you do not have a dashboard, a tool, like satnav for business if you like, how do you achieve the same quality of decision-making and business intelligence in your business?
If you did have such tool, how much more money would you make?
Well, out of 62 businesses that use our profit plan on a page process, the average was 16% in the first year of using it, and 72% in the second year of using it. And all of that without any mentoring or coaching.
With mentoring and coaching, the results are even more staggering. But let’s just settle for these “smaller improvements”. What would that mean to your business?
What would it mean to your profitability? Your cash flow? Your personal income? Your wealth?
If you use a GPS / Satnav unit while you drive, you will love one for your business.
